![]() I think that could help a bit in how she deals with customers.įirst off I want to say that this is a fun place, it brings back memories of my childhood of going to a drive in. ![]() I hope she gets some counseling for her low self esteem. ![]() We hope they stay open and continue to offer reasonably priced, retro entertainment. we even supported their business by purchasing from the concessions. We enjoyed the whole atmosphere, families, pets, kids on the playground, pretty sunset. We went ahead and bought tickets (although I thought she might refuse to serve us) After my husband and I eyed each other like, "Did that just happen?" We became determined to not let her ruin our evening. It would have been nice if she'd just admitted they could have handled the line issues differently, but she was so incredibly defensive and we were obviously wasting her time. Honestly, she was so obnoxious and out of line I really thought I was on Candid Camera. I told her I was surprised that she would use that kind of language with a customer and she shook her head with sort of a "Duh?" tone and let me know she was an owner.as if that would suddenly make me understand. I thought she didn't understand that we watched about 50 cars pass us and she said, there were plenty of good spots left and why was I getting so off. But when I mentioned it to the woman at the ticket booth, she was baffled at my concern, then angry that I suggested it was a problem. (Happens at the grocery store when they open a new check out lane and invite everyone behind you step over.) Not that big of a deal. Eventually a staff member motioned for cars lined up far behind us to form a second line and we ended up being about the 100th car through instead of maybe the 50th. My husband and I drove 45 min and arrived before 6:30 to make the most of our experience and to get a "good spot." We joined the single line of cars and waited for gates to open. Despite the ridiculously rude "owner" the crowds were delightful, the movie was fun and the weather ideal. But I should give a rating of 5, since my evening was enjoyable and I love a unique, family run operation. I should give a zero rating for how the woman treated me when we bought our tickets. This is an awesome place to kind of go back in time, or to give your kids a new experience. They post their movies on their website, and they change them every Tuesday. They are open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at this time I overheard someone saying they are open more in summer. We got there right at 6, and didn't have to wait too long, but afterwards the line was far down the road. The gates open at 6:00pm, and you need to be there then or before. Everyone was extremely polite and cheerful. They actually even have dinners, baskets, coffee, etc. To give you an idea, we bought: A large tub of popcorn, 3 types of candy, a large soda, and a bottle of water for $13 dollars. I expected them to be high, because that's where they make their money with such cheap ticket prices. When you buy your ticket, you get a list of rules and a concession menu. You can even bring your dog! (Inside your vehicle, and it can't be a nuisance.) If you're sitting outside, or in the bed of a pickup, bring a small radio or boombox, they are fine with that. You can bring chairs and sit outside your vehicle, but they ask the chairs be in front. They require your hatchback only be as tall as the top of your vehicle, and if it's too tall, the staff will come out and tie a rope to lower it a bit for you. You are allowed to park backwards for pickup trucks and hatchbacks. The parking lot is gravel, and each row has an elevated "ramp" so you can park your front tires there and be at a small upwards angle. Sound quality matches whatever sound system you have in your vehicle. You don't have to fool with the old speakers on the poles like years ago (although I kind of missed that.) Depending on the screen you're watching, you tune your radio to 88.1FM for screen one, and 98.1FM for screen two. That's almost a quarter of the cost of a theater ticket here! To top it off, that price is for a double feature! They have two screens, each shows two movies. We saw Puss in Boots, which at times was a bit dark, but I remember drive-ins always having that.We also saw Footloose, and the quality was great, nice and bright. If you've never been to a drive-in, try to remember this is not blu-ray on an HDTV, it's projection. The screens are in perfect shape, if a bit smaller than what I seem to remember as a kid. We were both pleasantly surprised at the experience as a whole. ![]() I remembered going to the drive-in with my family as a child, and I was so excited to find one close enough there are very few left in the country. My husband and I visited The Showboat this past Saturday night. ![]()
